In Novermber 2010 Laura went out to a small village called Halpe Katana in Sri Lanka, where she had the pleasure of spending some time at Arklow's Boys Home, an orhanage set up alongside many others by , dating back to 2005 a few months after the Tsunami hit the south coast of Sri Lanka.
On Returning to the UK we wanted to raise some money to get the boys some much needed matresses for the boys and to raise awareness of the Ireland Sri Lanka Orphanage Fund please click here for more information.
We started a fundraising appeal to raise money for 32 new mattresses. This was done through a fundraising night at The Croft in Bristol, called Treehouse Folk Fundraiser and also through the charitable donations of friends and family.

We started a fundraising appeal to raise money for 32 new mattresses. This was done through a fundraising night at The Croft in Bristol, called Treehouse Folk Fundraiser and also through the charitable donations of friends and family.
Within 6 months of the appeal and with the support of Joanna and Rich Edwards we raised enough money to buy all 32 mattresses for the boys.
And still fundraising goes on, as the boy's at Arklow's still need many more things. Click below to see some images of our night of music and sri lanka folk fundraising.
